Hi, my name is Lewis Board. I am a San Diego Native. I grew up in the neighborhoods of Mira Mesa (it was much nicer in the early 70’s). As a young boy, I cut lawns and washed cars for extra money. Then I got a paper route. By 14, I was washing dishes in a local restaurant. At 16 I got a job at a K-Mart, and spent a few years in the retail industry. I’ve even done some time at the Sony Factory. But most of my work has been in the Hotel-Restaurant industry (nearly 20 years). I even started a consulting business that did “secret shopping” of restaurants, hotels, and bars. I was even a stand-up comic for a few years! I’m currently a licensed Notary and run a Vacation Rental in Oceanside (after school is over at noon). Now, my wife, Marijane Schafer, and I are the proprietors of Little Hands Montessori, A Toddler Home, licensed as a family day care. We also operate the Montessori Child Development Center next door. MCDC was founded by Marijane in 1978. We currently have students in both Little Hands and MCDC who are the children of some of our first students! To me, that speaks volumes about our warm, loving environment. It also makes me feel old (haha). Aside from viewing this web-site, I hope you’ll come in and take a tour. We would love to show you around the properties. I am proud of my staff. Miss Nuccia is the head teacher. She learned Montessori in Italy and has been involved with childhood education for most of her life. Miss Racheal, Nuccia’s assistant, has been with our schools for over eleven years. Both of her daughters are MCDC graduates. Both Nuccia and Racheal are formally trained in the Montessori method as it relates to Toddlers and in 2008 I completed the Montessori toddler training to better serve as the LHM administrator.
