Greetings Everyone, My name is Jessica Gabriel, known as Miss Jess to the children at MCDC. My journey in Montessori education has been long and fulfilling. I came to MCDC in the beginning of January, 2010, after teaching for 8 years at a Christian Montessori school in Rancho Santa Fe. I must say that after walking into this school and meeting Marijane and the friendly staff, I was at home. I am inspired by the pleasant home environment and warm feeling of friendship and support from the staff. Teaching has always been something that has complimented my life style. After High School I began exploring my interests in psychology and art. In finding that I needed a child development course in completing my Associates degree, I discovered that working with children was what I wanted to do. I had the opportunity to be an assistant teacher at a small Jewish Montessori academy in Rancho Bernardo, thus started my Montessori career. This prepared me for my next adventure as I began teaching at a private Christian Montessori school in Rancho Santa Fe. I dedicated 8 years there, where I gained more experience as a head teacher as well as more hands on training with the Montessori materials. My interests include camping, hiking, running, dinner at mom’s, family time, reading, the beach, exploring, and taking time to relax. I have two awesome children, my daughter Brianna, and my step son Collin. My husband and I went to high school together in Ramona, we reunited after thirteen years and what began as a childhood friendship bonded us in marriage this past August of 2010. We are now one big busy happy family and are expecting our 3rd child in August!! My goal is eventually to get my Montessori Certification and carry on as a productive Montessori teacher, always ready to learn more by challenging myself to be better at what I love, which is reaching out to children and guiding them into the discovery of their world.
